From April to June 2025, IHRM continued its powerful work at LaVista Correctional Facility—offering healing, structure, and hope to justice-involved mothers ready to rewrite their stories.
Transitional Home Expansion
Our Transitional Home currently shelters four resilient women actively working toward their goals. On July 29th, we’re preparing to welcome three more mothers. To meet the growing need for support, we proudly opened a second home—doubling our capacity and deepening our commitment to transitional care for mothers navigating reentry.
But our impact extends beyond the walls of these homes. IHRM also supports graduates who now reside in halfway houses or independent housing. This extended care model keeps mothers connected to our community as they maintain sobriety, build parenting skills, and strive toward long-term self-sufficiency.
Program Impact: A Quarter of Growth and Grace
In this quarter alone, IHRM served 18 women in Cohort 7 through a structured 9-week teaching program rooted in faith, forgiveness, and personal transformation. This program focused on:
- Positive parenting
- Identity in Christ
- Forgiveness and restoration
We also launched our first-ever Mentee Cohort, serving 11 women through a peer mentorship model—fostering connection, accountability, and strength from shared experiences.
In partnership with Chaplain Kent, we baptized 18 women—a sacred turning point in their spiritual journey. He also provided one-on-one coaching to 54 women, offering personal encouragement and support that met each woman where she was.
Equipping Women for Life After Prison
To ensure each mother had the resources to engage fully, we provided all participants with composition books, folders, and printed course materials. The curriculum addressed essential topics such as:
- Forgiveness and restoration
- Identity in Christ
- Emotional regulation and self-care
- Child development and parenting
- Bonding and attachment
- Discipline and communication
- Reintegration and co-parenting strategies
A Celebration of Transformation
We concluded the quarter with a heartfelt graduation ceremony that honored the dedication, courage, and progress of each participant. Families, mentors, and program leaders gathered to celebrate these women—not for who they’ve been, but for who they are becoming.
Through love, faith, and community, we’re not just changing lives—we’re rebuilding futures.
